Plans & Projects

When completed in June of 1993, the Mid-Bay Bridge immediately became an integral part of the north-south highway system between I-10, Niceville, and Destin. To meet increasing traffic demands projected for the future, the Authority has twice expanded the Mid-Bay Bridge Toll Plaza on the north shore of Choctawhatchee Bay, improved the north approach road, widened Wuerffel Way to four lanes, improved the intersection of Wuerffel Way and US Highway 98, improved State Road 20 and Range Road, constructed an access road in Seminole, and constructed the Spence Parkway.

The Authority is developing a Transportation Asset Management Plan (“TAMP”) to ensure it documents its systems features and conditions, appropriately operates and maintains its system, and wisely invests its toll revenues in life cycle repairs, restoration, renewal, and capital investments to (1) reduce life-cycle costs, (2) keep the system in excellent condition, and (3) contribute to Okaloosa County and regional transportation needs.
