1. Cash/Toll-By-Plate – the highest rate and generally expected to be used by those who rarely use the system.
2. SunPass – for those who routinely use the system, which comprises the Mid-Bay Bridge and Spence Parkway, use of a pre-paid SunPass account is the most convenient way to pay the toll. Only two-axle vehicles are eligible for a SunPass discount.
3. SunPass Frequent Customer – users on a single SunPass personal account making 32-or-more trips per month will qualify for the frequent user discount. The discount is on a per-account basis and is per toll plaza (e.g., 30 transactions at each toll plaza cannot be combined to get the discount). Once the user’s 32-transaction threshold is reached, a rebate for each qualifying transaction will return to the user’s SunPass account the following month.

• SunPass customers making 32-or-more trips per month will qualify for the frequent user rebate.
• The rebate is on a per-personal account basis.
  • A single rebate shall be applied to the personal account for the combined activity of all transponders/minis linked to that personal SunPass account.
• The transponder must be active in order for the transactions to count towards the threshold. Transponders are active when they have been properly registered and are associated with an account that is in good standing. Customers can check the status of their account or transponder by logging onto SunPass.com.
  • The rebate only applies to Personal SunPass accounts for 2-axle transactions.
  • All 2+-axle transactions will count toward the rebate threshold, but not the rebate amount.
• A separate account rebate will be issued for both the Mid-Bay Bridge and the Spence Parkway.
• The rebate threshold must be reached at each tolling point separately to qualify.
• Once a SunPass account reaches 32 transactions, the rebate for each qualifying transaction will be credited to the SunPass account by the second week of the following month.
• SunPass minis were originally recorded as commercial accounts, so we recommend non-commercial users check their account type to confirm it’s a personal account.

With the new SunPass frequent user rebate program, qualifying transactions from multiple transponders on a SunPass personal account are counted toward meeting the threshold of 32 transactions in a month to get a rebate. To consolidate multiple transponders on a single personal account, even if they are all owned by the same person, a customer should call the SunPass Customer Service Center. Depending on the circumstances, a customer may need to complete a Transfer of Ownership Form and submit it back to the Service Center for consolidation. Toll-By-Plate is a statewide program. Without slowing or stopping, a user’s license plate is photographed and matched with their auto registration. At the end of each month an invoice is sent out with all TBP transactions for the month.

*Please note a $2.50 administrative charge is included with each monthly invoice.

Toll-By-Plate users can avoid monthly processing fees by setting up a pre-paid SunPass or Toll-By-Plate account from which transaction fees are automatically deducted.
